Hi, I’m Adrienne Docherty and have been a Humanist Celebrant for over 5 years.

I love being a Celebrant and find it an honour and a privilege to be part of your special day.  I decided to become a Celebrant after attending Humanist funeral ceremonies and noting how much more personal and meaningful they seemed to be.  In particular, I felt they were reassuringly respectful, sincere, warm & dignified...and often with a wee bit of humour to be found. 

 

I offer ceremonies for vow renewal and baby-naming days, and of course, weddings and funerals.

My general approach to weddings is to have an initial meeting at your home or mine to outline your details and requirements.  Prior to the big day I will send you an outline of an initial draft which you can check and amend.  We will work together on the ceremony and you will have as much or as little input as you would like.  My role is to ensure that the ceremony is what you want and feel comfortable with, and I am always open to any & all suggestions.

 

My approach to funerals is to work together with those who knew the deceased best, with a view to creating a ceremony that reflects the life and personality of your loved one in a meaningful, heartfelt & fitting way.  It is a way of saying goodbye honestly and without pretence, using words, music, and memories to reflect on who the person was and how they lived.  It is a celebration of their life and those they shared it with.
